  • I'm thinking that if you see Dustin Hoffman, you should run the other way to avoid life-threatening events. But seriously, it is great that he was in the right place at the right time, and able to keep a cool head in an emergency. Good on him.

  • Heathrow was indeed the low spot of a trip to London last year. Two hours queued in an airless hall after a seven-hour flight was maddening. There had to be over a thousand visitors waiting to be processed but only three rude & indifferent immigration agents were working the gate.

  • I cannot feature what issues the crackpot plaintiffs have with Greg Mortenson. His books are required reading for troops based in Afghanistan for a reason; his idea to engage and work with the locals is a sound one.

  • I don't see what the fuss is all about. This amounted to about $2,500 per person, hotel, meals, and air included. Assuming they actually worked, that is not excessive for travel. In fact, this tab would buy about 1,500 $550 hammers for the Pentagon.

  • If you're 6'4", and you wish to be comfortable, you should shell out the extra $9-$159 for the "extra" seat, or as you say, take it up with the airline. You should not expect those of us of non-Amazonian size to cater to you.
